2016 Australia Day Awards

20 November 2015

Nominations are sought for the 2016 Australia Day Awards on Norfolk Island.

Australia Day Awards recognise service and contribution to the community in the past year by individuals or groups. They recognise those who are an inspirational role model.

The award categories are:

  • Citizen of the Year Award
  • Young Citizen of the Year Award
  • Sportsperson of the Year
  • Junior Sportsperson of the Year
  • Achievement Award

The Citizen and Young Citizen Awards recognise outstanding contribution to local community. The Citizen Award is for persons 25 years of age and over. The Young Citizen is for those under 25.

The Sports Awards recognise outstanding ability or participation, or achievement in a particular competition.

The Achievement Award recognises significant achievement for which other categories may not apply, including for contribution in the public service.

Nominations will be considered by a panel, with the Awards announced at Government House on Australia Day, Tuesday 26 January 2016.

Nominations should be submitted in writing to the Office of the Administrator. Each nomination should include:

  • the nominee and nominator's details (both name and contact information)
  • the award category
  • an outline of the significant contribution the nominee has made to the Norfolk Island community and an explanation of how this person or group is an inspirational role model.

Nominations must be received by the Office of the Administrator by close of business, Tuesday 22 December 2015.

Once again, we are looking to celebrate what is great about our Nation and our local community by saying thanks to those who have served or achieved something special during the past year.
