Is it safe to come to CI?

  • All of those repatriated from China will undertake health screening before arriving on Christmas Island, and they will be completely separated from the Christmas Island community during their period of quarantine. Those quarantined will not be moving around the island or accessing any services used by Christmas Island residents. There will be no impact on services for the community.

When do the visitors arrive on CI?

  • There is no date determined as yet.  The Government is focused on helping these Australians as quickly as possible.
  • The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is working closely with Chinese authorities and international partners to assist the departure of Australians from areas that are affected by Chinese travel restrictions.
  • Chinese authorities will set and approve the conditions of any assisted departure.

Are they using the school buses to be transported?

  • Those quarantined will not be moving around the island or accessing any services used by Christmas Island residents.

Are they going to be allowed to go to the supermarket whilst they are in quarantine?

  • Those quarantined will not be moving around the island or accessing any services used by Christmas Island residents.
