On Thursday, 25 October 2018, the House of Representatives agreed to refer the proposed project for the replacement of the wharf crane and mooring systems on Christmas Island (the proposal) to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works (PWC).
For information on the proposal, you can refer to the submission made by the Department at About this Inquiry.

Essentially, the PWC is required to report as soon as possible on:

  • the stated purpose of the proposed work and its suitability for that purpose
  • the need for the work
  • the cost-effectiveness of the proposal
  • the amount of revenue it will produce if the work is revenue producing, and the current and prospective value of the work.

The PWC invites interested organisations to make submissions in relation to the proposal, which must be lodged by Friday, 23 November 2018.  For information on how to make a submission, go to the Making a submission to a Parliamentary Inquiry page.

If you have any questions, please contact the PWC Secretariat on 02 6277 4636.
