Sport
The sports function in the Department of Regional Australia, Local Government, Arts and Sport (DRALGAS) will ensure strong collaboration and links across a number of portfolios that are impacted by sports, sports participation, and the bidding for and hosting of major sporting events. Recent major policy areas include the policing of match fixing and corruption in sport on a global scale.
The Office for Sport transferred to DRALGAS from Prime Minister and Cabinet during 2011–12 as a result of the AAO dated 14 December 2011. Appropriations were amended under section 32 of the Financial Management and Accountability Act 1997 effective 1 February 2012.
The Office for Sport works closely with the Australian Sports Commission, Australian Sports Foundation and the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority on the development of Australian sport through increasing participation, strengthening sporting pathways, and ensuring Australia's continued success in international competition.
Information on the 2012–13 Anti-Doping Research Program funding round is now available.
